Overview
Alaska West is a remote fishing tent lodge located on the Kanektok River in Southwest Alaska. Anglers can fish for all five species of Pacific salmon, huge rainbow trout, Dolly Varden, and Grayling. From smaller, more intimate side channels which resemble freestone trout streams to the large, boisterous main channel the Kanektok was made for fly-fishing. The Arolik River option offers pristine setting - 4 rods per day on the river and, like the Kanektok, is a true "Alaskan Experience". The guides at Alaska West are some of the finest in Alaska with multiple seasons under their wading belts.

While the camp is a true tent camp, you will find it a comfortable and clean nook in the remote Alaska wilderness. Meals are prepared each night before you turn in to your respective tents or, for those who simply cannot get enough fishing in, opt to wade out into the river for a few casts prior to turning in.

King Salmon are, by definition, big fish. If you have ever wanted to learn the art of spey-casting, what better place than Alaska and what better fish than the King Salmon Experts such as the noted Ed Ward are available to aid you in learning the art or helping those who are already familiar fine tune their skills. The Kanektok River was made for spey fishing, with long, sweeping runs and plenty of current, the river begs to have a line quartered across. Once you hook one of the magnificent king salmon on a double-handed rod for the first time, you'll wonder why you have been fishing a little single hander for so long.


Accommodations

This is a tent style camp which is set up daily and then broken down in the morning before beginning the days fishing/float.

The Fishing
King, Sockeye, Pink, Coho, and Chum salmon along with Dolly Varden, Arctic Char, and large Rainbow Trout. A variety of methods from dead drifting egg patterns to swinging streamers are used.
